Mac OS X Lion 2011: Mac OS X Lion Launches Today: The release date of Apple’s OS X Lion has 2011 been debated for weeks, with some who have put the release date on the 14th of July last week. Since it’s already the 20th, it’s safe to assume that they were wrong, although some say that it was indeed meant for the 14th but there were some last minute delays that caused it to be pushed back. The good news is that the speculation of the release date for OS X Lion can finally be put to rest as Apple has indeed confirmed that OS X Lion will be released today on the 20th of July.

This was confirmed by Apple’s chief financial officer, Peter Oppenheimer, who told analysts last night that Lion would be released today. Prior to the confirmation, there were reports that Apple stores have been receiving promo materials for OS X Lion, with some websites even posting photos of stores with full sized posters depicting the features of Apple’s latest operating system.
